Facebook, arguably the largest social media platform today, has been utilized in a number of ways. People connect with their peers, business owners are using it as a marketing platform, and some people even use Facebook for some event management activities  as well.

There are plenty of ways you can use Facebook for your events. However, some of you might not get a good ROI because of a number of reasons; one of which is not thinking outside the box.

You see, some events are just lackluster and people, when they get bored, do not want to participate. Furthermore, your marketing efforts might not be up to par with the more successful events, so you’re always going to be left out in the dust.

1. It’s All About the Visuals

How can you make sure that your event stands out? Think about all of the visual elements! Start by using a beautiful cover photo for your event. You have to understand two things: it needs to be relevant to the upcoming event and it also has to be attention- grabbing as well.

You also have to remember that Facebook has set some guidelines about the use of photos on your event page. First, you have to make sure that they are just the right size; but as the saying goes, “one size doesn’t fit all”.

For instance, if you’re going to upload a photo and put it on your events page, the picture should have the dimensions 785×295 for optimal viewing. Also, if you have other events that you want to link on the same page, you can use a 150×100 photo.

2. Increase Guest Engagement

You can help market your event by increasing customer engagement. On your event page, you can create a poll asking what people can expect in the event or perhaps you could ask them what they want, or something like that.

Increasing customer engagement by asking them questions related to the occasion is definitely one thing that you should do.

In fact, this has been proven to help increase coverage since if people enjoy their time on your page, they will not hesitate to tell their buddies about your event- thus increasing your guest count.

3. Promote It and Use Hashtags

On your events page, make it a point to put all of the information a person needs to know about your upcoming occasion. Tag your friends and let them know about it. Also, ask them to share it with their friends and family so they, too, can do the same.

You also have to remember to use an event hashtag. It has to be something unique and it also has to be relevant to your event. For instance, if you’re hosting a dance party, you could use something like #NextGenDanceParty2018 or something like that.

By using hashtags, you can passively increase your coverage since people can just use it to search and find your event.

4. Don’t Forget to Include a Countdown

Implementing a countdown timer is actually a useful way to entice more people to join in. Once you’ve set the countdown, people will be reminded to sign up before the process ends.

There are plenty of ways you can do this. You can download an app such as the “Countdown Timer for Pages” or something of that sort.
